San Angelo ISD Joins Community Partners to Welcome New Difference Makers at 7th Annual Tailgate Event

San Angelo ISD welcomed approximately 100 new SAISD professionals to the district during the 7th Annual New to the SAISD Team Tailgate on July 29. The tailgate-style, celebratory event took place in the San Angelo Stadium parking lot and kicked off three days of professional learning support and development. 

SAISD campuses and departments participated in the event, cheering on the educators and staff and welcoming their new campus or department team members to the district, and in some cases, to the San Angelo community. Almost 60 local businesses and organizations also attended the tailgate to welcome and show their support of the new SAISD team members. 

“One of the things that makes San Angelo ISD so special is that welcoming new educators isn't just the work of our district, it is something our entire community embraces,” said Executive Director of Human Resources Dr. Amy Lemaster. “Seeing our campuses, departments, and community partners come together to celebrate our newest team members was an incredible reminder that our teachers are surrounded by people who believe in them from day one. We know that when educators feel valued and supported, they are empowered to do their very best for students and we want every new employee to know they have a community standing behind them, supporting both their success and the success of the students they will serve.”
