Process to Switch Instructional Models for the 2nd 9-Weeks

Prior to the start of the school year, San Angelo ISD families and students were given the opportunity to select from two instructional models: traditional, in-person instruction with new safety protocols or the new fully virtual option, our Virtual Academy. We understand this was a complicated choice with many factors to weigh in your decision. 

As previously announced, parents have the ability to choose their instructional preference at each 9-week grading period. San Angelo ISD is opening the window for one week to switch instructional models for the 2nd 9-week grading period. Families will have the opportunity to switch instructional models starting Friday, September 18th until Friday, September 25th.

Below we outline the process to request a switch in your student’s instructional model. If you wish for your student to remain in their current instructional model preference, no action is required from you at this time. Switches made through this process will be effective beginning October 19, 2020. Additional opportunities to switch will be available at each 9-week grading period this school year.

To Switch Instructional Models:

  1. Complete and submit an online Instructional Model Switch Request Form no later than Friday, September 25th. The forms are specific to each school, and you will need to complete one for each of your students. Links for each school form will be available on September 18th via email or the SAISD website. Please review the information you provide to ensure it is correct including your current phone number.
    • (Examples regarding form completion: If you have a third grader at Bonham Elementary and a sophomore at Central High School, you will fill out one Bonham request form and one Central High School form. If you have two students at Bonham, then you would fill out two forms for Bonham, one for each student.)
  2. Upon successfully completing the request form, you will receive a confirmation email with a copy of your submission. We recommend that you print or save a digital copy and keep the copy of the confirmation email for your records.
  3. Your campus will verify your switch selection. Your student’s campus will call you to follow up and verify that you are requesting the switch and to discuss other related information. It is important that you connect with your campus for this call. If you have students at more than one campus, you should receive a call from each campus.

Tomorrow, September 18th, we will provide to families the links to begin submitting their request to switch instructional models. We hope these instructions will help familiarize you with the process prior to the release of the forms.
