Important Information Regarding Nation-Wide, Circulating TikTok Challenge

Dear San Angelo ISD Parent and Guardians,

San Angelo ISD is aware of the national TikTok challenge circulating about school violence on Friday, December 17, 2021. This is the newest in a string of TikTok posts, but this challenge is NOT specific to any San Angelo ISD school. It is a general post, circulating across our nation.

We are aware of this challenge, and SAISD is keeping in close contact with the San Angelo Police Department. We take all matters of this nature seriously, and students and staff may see an increase in police presence on school campuses tomorrow.

Please take this opportunity to talk with your students about the seriousness and resulting consequences of making any kind of threat, about the appropriate use of social media, and encourage your student to speak with you, a district or school official, the school resource officer or local law enforcement, or report the concern on our district StayAlert link if they see or hear anything, so that immediate action can be taken. Please remember, participation in social media threats, on or off campus, may result in school disciplinary action and/or criminal charges.

Again, there is no specific threat to San Angelo ISD campuses. Even so, we remain vigilant, continuing to investigate any rumors and/or threats that may arise. If anything develops, we will communicate with our families immediately.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support and for entrusting SAISD with the care and education of your students.
