Central High School Celebrates Homecoming with Spirit Week, Carnival, Parade and Community Pep Rally

Central High School Bobcats celebrated carnival-themed Homecoming festivities for “The Greatest Homecoming on Earth” all week long leading up to the game against Abilene Wylie tonight, September 23, 2022, at San Angelo Stadium. Building Bobcat spirit, students and staff participated in themed dress up days, decorated halls, and put together a carnival and an energetic parade followed by a community pep rally that filled San Angelo Stadium with Angry Orange excitement before sending folks off with a dazzling fireworks display.

At the pep rally, JROTC and choir opened the evening followed by a welcome by Principal Bill Waters and performances by cheer, band and Tex-Anns. The 2022 Homecoming Court winners, parade float winners, and campus decoration winners were presented and announced to the crowd by Mr. Waters. Those included:

  • Homecoming Court: King: Creed Thompson, Queens: Kylee Fuchs and Haley Wroblewski (There was a tie for queen this year, and both were crowned), Dukes: Aiden Barron, Jett Hill, Gavin Martinson, Jack McLaughlin, and Cadin Pizzola. Duchesses: Bryanna Banda, Sydney Bobholz, Jeweleana (Jewels) Perez, and Morgan Strain
  • Parade Float winners: Best Overall: Lady Cat Girls Soccer, Best Theme: Volleyball, and Most Spirited: Swimming
  • Campus decorations: Building Winner: Carlyle, Best Doors: Ms. Heather Shoop-York, Ms. Kristy Torrez and Dr. Sarah Hernandez

Homecoming is a tradition welcoming back former Bobcats, and with decades of history spanning back to 1958 (with the first graduating class in 1961), it is alive and well in San Angelo. Alumni are invited to attend the game starting at 7pm at San Angelo Stadium to cheer on our players and student groups, or can tune in live with our official streaming partner Concho Sports Network at www.conchosports.com or listen live on KIXY 94.7 FM

Special thanks to Kurt Hoffmaster for lending his photography from the evening events for this story.
