Earlier this month, almost 1,000 San Angelo ISD fifth-grade students attended a special presentation by Dr. Jose Hernandez, a celebrated astronaut and the first immigrant farmer to journey into space. This engaging educational opportunity is presented in partnership with the Hispanic Heritage Museum and Cultural Center as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.
September is National Literacy Month and a great month to kick off our San Angelo READS! Read Alouds! City National Bank President and CEO Wrey Montgomery visited Santa Rita Elementary and read aloud to kindergarteners for the first book giveaway of the year on September 11.
Manuel Gonzales attended San Angelo Central High School from 1956-1959. In 1959, he withdrew from high school to enlist in the United States Army and served as a US Army Specialist in the Vietnam Era War, never earning his high school diploma. Texas Education Code 28.0251 allows for school districts to issue high school diplomas to certain veterans.
San Angelo ISD is proud to announce Belaire Elementary and Lone Star Middle School have received the distinction of being named a Texas Education Agency (TEA) Purple Star Designation campus. The award recognizes schools that excel in meeting the needs of military-connected students and their families.
San Angelo ISD will host an immunization clinic in partnership with La Esperanza Clinic to provide SAISD families accessible opportunities for students in kindergarten through 12th grade to get Texas-required immunizations.
